Two medical-humanities pieces: a cartoon metaphor of weapon racks and shields for treatment choice ("CANCER WHICH ONE?"), and a portrait-and-text collage on illness. Good openers for medical humanities and doctor–patient communication.
The Story Behind the Image
The comic language of a weapon rack and shields puts the question of treatment choice directly onto the picture — 'CANCER WHICH ONE?' hangs overhead; the other piece uses a collage of figures and words to lay out the tangle of emotions inside illness. Both avoid medical diagrams and give the frame to the sick person themselves.
